Dear Parker Families,
I write to thank you all for all of your support during this most challenging year. Parker accomplished so much together as a school community for our students because we worked together as one.
Over the summer, the administration will be in touch with you on these dates regarding information about the start-of-school: July 16, August 9 and August 20.
Additional Middle and Upper School communications regarding athletics and student orientation events will be sent as well later in the summer.
These communications will include whatever new information is available about changes to CDPH, ISBE and CDC guidelines for schools that will influence Parker’s health and safety protocols. Additionally, on Friday, August 20 the Parent Portal will contain class section lists and other start-of-school information.
As we look ahead to the coming year, we do not yet know when vaccines will be available for students under 12 years old and what the health and safety protocols within the school will be given that a significant portion of the school will not likely be fully vaccinated by Labor Day.
Nonetheless, as of today, following our collaborations with other schools and recent conversations with health experts, it is likely that we will employ remote learning only in the event of a section-specific quarantine, with our daily educational program returning to full-time, on-campus instruction for all grade levels, JK–12. Of course, as we know from past experience, much can change over the next three months, but as of now, this is the direction we are heading.
With best wishes for the summer,
Daniel B. Frank, Ph.D.
